WILLIAM (GORDON) CLARK

William “Gordon” Clark passed away peacefully with his family by his side, at Country Meadows Personal Care Home on April 17, 2026 at the age of 89 years.

A graveside service was held in Newdale on May 2, 2026, officiated by Rita Friesen of Neepawa. Piper Dan Jardine of Brookdale ushered the family with an array of Scottish laments in tribute to Gordon’s Scottish heritage. Honorary pallbearers were Bob Young and Don Baker. Pallbearers were Shannon Dalke, Delbert Pederson, Rick Kienas, and grandsons, Jordan Twerdun, Logan Clark and Bryce Scott. The eulogy was read by granddaughter Danielle Clark.

Gordon was born August 16, 1936 in Winnipeg to parents, William (Bill) Alexander Clark and Florence Elizabeth Clark (nee Babcock). Bill was born in Ellon, Aberdeenshire, Scotland and came to Canada in 1912, settling in the Newdale area. Gordon was very proud of his Scottish heritage.

Bill passed away in June 1957 and Gordon took over the family farm at the age of 20. The farm received its Century Farm designation in 1991 for 100 continuous years as a family farm and subsequently received its Heritage Farm designation in 2016 in recognition of 125 continuous years as a family farm. Gordon was extremely proud of both of these designations and the family has now been continuously farming the land for 135 years.

Gordon married his high school sweetheart, Enid Adamson, in February 1961, and they had two children, David and Donna. They built their new home on the farm in 1966 and went about the business of raising their family and building a prosperous farming operation. The love of the land was instilled in David, who farmed alongside his dad until mobility issues forced Gordon to become a spectator from the sidelines, a position he was never happy about. Donna was then recruited to operate the combine and continues to do so now with her sister-in-law Carrie. The love of the land was not only for sons!

Gordon was a self-taught jack-of-all-trades, a mechanic, and a bit of an inventor - his most famous invention being the Clark potato planter, which is still being used today. Gordon supplied “spuds” to many community functions, organizations, family and friends.

Gordon enjoyed many sports during his younger years including hockey, baseball, slo-pitch and fishing trips, but none so much as curling. He and Enid have endless stories of the good times with friends both in the Newdale rink and various neighboring towns. He also loved hunting deer, moose and elk and invented his own band saw to cut up the meat. Many meat cutting parties were held on the farm! Annual visits from friends in Kenora, Ontario and the USA for duck hunting were always enjoyed.

Gordon and Enid enjoyed camping and took the kids on many trips when they were young. After the kids left home, they enjoyed many trips throughout Canada and the USA with friends and also sailed on cruises to the Panama Canal, Hawaii and the Caribbean.

Gordon’s declining mobility issues finally progressed to the point where he became wheelchair bound and he was, to his great dismay, panelled for personal care placement. His final move to Country Meadows Personal Care home in Neepawa was an unexpected blessing in his life. Enid moved to an apartment only one block from the care home. Gordon was blessed with many new friends at Country Meadows and the staff were truly exceptional, absolutely spoiling him in every way. Enid spent most afternoons with Gordon enjoying the entertainment, ice cream and the coffee “gang” at Country Meadows.

Although his family were sure that his big 90th birthday bash would be occurring in August 2026, sadly Gordon passed on April 17. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Enid his son David (Carrie) and daughter Donna (Brian);

his grandchildren, Jordan (Amy), Logan (Jessica), Danielle (Connor), Bryce (Amilee), Lauren (Jordan) and Carly (Chris);

his great-grandchildren, Marcus, Adelyn. Mason, Brooks, Mila and Colton; his cousin, Eileen Bradley and her family

This was no ordinary life.

This was a life well-lived and well-loved.

A life that will be deeply missed.
